To connect to an IRC server you need to run a program known as a "client" But you don’t have to connect to IRC to have a chat. Thousands of internet sites are available which have chat rooms of their own. None of these facilities require special software. Conversation may be public (where everyone in a channel can see what you type) or private (messages between just two people, who may or may not be on the same channel). Here everyone is known by a nickname. Every user need to know 'Netiquette'. It is the basics of good Internet behavior and how to use the Net politely and with responsibility.
